All Dolled Up

Homecoming is a memorable high school experience for everyone. From the fancy dresses and tuxes, to dancing the night away with your best friends. Also, learning crowns and sashes can dress up any outfit when you’re on the homecoming court.  Homecoming is an exciting time for everyone, especially for Aubree Jones (12), this year’s homecoming queen.

“Usually, if you look at the cameras, you’ll know ahead of time based on where they are pointed. I saw they were to the right, I whispered to my dad, ‘keep smiling, it’s someone over there,’ so when I realized when they called my name, I was super off guard and excited,” Jones said.

Jones had a great experience on homecoming day. A day filled with love and laughter that is hard to forget. Hearing her name announced as queen, with her friends and family cheering her on. Also channeling her competitive spirit during the homecoming pep rally.

“I was concerned because I didn’t know what to expect when it came to the pep rally game. My main goal was to just stay in the game,” Jones said.

Homecoming week was packed with fun. Starting with halls and walls, to ending the week with Friday night lights, homecoming court, and the homecoming dance. It was a hype week for the members of the court and the school as a whole. Jones and the rest of the court brought their school spirit with them.

“The whole week was super fun and chaotic and a great opportunity for the whole school to connect over projects and exciting opportunities,” Jones said.

A week full of fun and a little bit of chaos, Jones’s experience is one that is unforgettable. In future years, looking back on the memories from homecoming week, it provides priceless memories for anyone. Also, giving Jones bonding experiences with her peers on the court. Homecoming helped draw the group of girls closer.

“Just getting to talk to the other members of the court and sort of put a little competition between us, I feel like it was a great way to connect with them,” Jones said.

Standing on the field, the Friday night lights glaring on you, with butterflies in your stomach, hoping for your name to be called. Jones has memories that will forever follow her. Amazing memories full of excitement, friendship, and laughter.

“It was definitely something I wasn’t expecting, and I’ll never forget how it felt to be standing on the field that night,” Jones said.

A week full of fun and friendly competition —it is definitely one hard to forget. Jones’s friends and family cheered her on, bringing her to our homecoming queen. Jones feels blessed to be this year’s homecoming queen.

“I feel really grateful to be considered, and I’m just super blessed to be given the opportunity to be an example for younger girls,” Jones said.

Jones couldn’t be more grateful for the path she took, with her family and friends following her and cheering her on every step of the way. Homecoming week brought excitement to Jones and our school.
