Homecoming Spotlight: Caleb Brown

Homecoming Spotlight: Caleb Brown

For years, schools have participated in a tradition to celebrate outstanding students. 12 boys are chosen by their peers to compete for the title of Homecoming King. It shows strong participation in socials, academics, and extracurriculars. Keeping this motivation to stay involved in the chaos surrounding you shows an incredible amount of determination. For senior Caleb Brown, this accomplishment means a lot in both a social and an environmental way.

“[Being nominated for Homecoming] means a lot to me. It makes me feel like I’ve actually had an impact on the school, and I’m very proud of it. I hope that this impact I’ve left is as positive as possible and that I have left it a better place than when I got here,” Brown said.

Homecoming serves as a great opportunity to better connect with the students around you. Brown has stayed involved with important leadership positions such as the NHS and Science Olympiad. He says that he tries to stay as active and work his way into whatever he can. Extracurriculars such as these help especially when it comes to after high school. College is the time to find out who you are, and Brown has some great goals to work towards.

“I am planning on going to the University of Tennessee to study chemical engineering,” Brown said.

With these big goals comes a lot of motivation. Brown says that there is a quote that has driven him to stay focused throughout his life. ‘When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.’ This has driven him to keep pursuing his goals and to never let anything slow him down. Staying motivated in school, however, requires a different mindset.

“I think that whenever you try to do the right thing, it will always come back to you,” Brown said.

Even though Homecoming is a very important time in a student’s time in high school, there are other important things to look forward to. Brown says that they’re a good way to get out and enjoy yourself with your friends, away from the stress of school and everyday activities. He claims that having something to look forward to encourages you to stay driven academically and socially. He’s got a few things that he is looking forward to himself.

“I’m pretty excited for prom, obviously, and I’m excited for the Homecoming game,” Brown said.

Throughout his high school career, Brown has not only focused on academics and extracurriculars, but also on the lessons that come with growing up in a social environment. The experiences he has gained inside and outside of the classroom have helped shape who he is today and have prepared him for life beyond high school.

“I think I’ve gotten a lot of common sense and social experience,” Brown said.

As Brown enters the final stretch of his high school career, his nomination to the Homecoming Court reflects the impact he has made through his involvement and leadership. It recognizes the dedication he has shown both in and out of the classroom. Regardless of the outcome, the nomination stands as a symbol of the positive role he has played within the school community.
