Along with the holiday season, winter homecoming season has officially arrived. From dressing up and dancing the night away to cheering for homecoming king, it can be a wonderful experience. Hunter Click (12) was one of the lucky few who were selected for the winter homecoming court. Click earned his spot through his involvement and pride in our school. Click shows his commitment to our school through his involvement, whether that’s sports or clubs.
“I think I’ve been involved in the school by putting myself out there. When the opportunity comes, like different clubs, the Panther Crew, just volunteering and stuff like that, and like A.V. production and sports, just kind of getting my name out there,” Click said.
Being nominated for homecoming court has been a big boost of confidence for Click. To Click, the opportunity to represent our school has shown him the connection and respect between himself and his classmates.
“It makes me, I mean, feel really good about myself, because that means the people around me feel like I was worthy enough to be voted for and represent the school. So I guess that means that I’ve been good to other people, they’ve been good to me,” Click said.
With the respect and connection Click has made with his peers, he hopes to leave an impact on younger students and the school as a whole. Click tries to leave lasting impacts on the school by encouraging others to be the best version of themselves.
“I kind of just would encourage people to do what they want to do. I mean, when I’m out there playing sports or doing A.V. stuff, like on video, you can see I’m kind of just being myself, and I think it encourages everybody to do what they want to do and be their self,” Click said.
Click feels that many people have helped encourage him to get to the point he is at now. Role models, like former students, have made impacts on him that he hopes to have taken and passed down to younger students. The morals Click was taught through role models has motivated him to be the student he is today.
“Driven me to be motivated? Well, I’ve had a lot of help from people older than me and seniors. They motivated me, kind of the morals I teach, they kind of taught me the same thing, kind of passed it down, I guess. So like role models motivated me,” Click said.
Click is mainly looking forward to school events that he has coming up. Like district basketball games, along with his senior baseball season is coming up.
“Upcoming events, well, we’re mid-basketball season right now, so we have a couple of big games coming up, like a lot of different district games. There’s also, I mean, baseball season, and just a lot of stuff to look forward to,” Click said.
With the upcoming baseball season, Click has a lot to look forward to. Especially because it is his last season before he goes to college. Click is committed to Johnson University to continue playing baseball in college. While in college, Click hopes to stay active and healthy.
“I’m committed to play baseball at Johnson University. I’m undecided on my major, but that’s it. I want to continue playing sports, be active, and healthy,” Click said.
As Click reflects on his high school experience and looks towards the future, he offers advice to his peers.
“Like I said, be yourself. If you’re not living for other people, you’re living for yourself, and kind of just enjoy life while you can, I guess,” Click said.
Click’s opportunity on winter homecoming court reflects more than a label, but it reflects his leadership, dedication, and positivity within our school. Through his involvement in academics and extracurricular activities, Click has built meaningful relationships that he hopes to carry with him. Click’s commitment to being himself and encouraging others to do the same helps remind us of the impact one student can have. As he turns the page into this chapter of high school, Click shows the importance of positivity and school spirit. Click has become a strong role model for students now and in the future.
