“Which Knee? Dis Knee!”

Band’s Disney Trip
"Which Knee? Dis Knee!"

Over spring break, the band took a trip to the most magical place on Earth. Disney World proved to be an exciting endeavor for students. From travelling around the world in Epcot to being transported to a new galaxy in Hollywood Studios, there was never a dull moment. Students were even given the opportunity to perform a movie soundtrack in a professional setting. Raighgan Edmisten (9), Alyson Tucker (11), and Ivan Tinoco (10) share their magical experience.

The soundtrack session could best be described as engaging. It pushed students to learn new pieces in a matter of minutes, which requires focus, skill, and attention to detail. They played various pieces, including excerpts from famous movies like Star Wars and Toy Story. Edmisten was surprised because it was just like her typical band class. Tinoco had a similar experience, describing it as a typical band class with a couple of key differences.

“It was pretty cool. We got headphones to help us listen to the music, which was different, but I liked it,” Tinoco said.

The trip started at Magic Kingdom, where Edmisten pranced around to different rides like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Haunted Mansion. The day spent hopping around allowed her to grow closer with her group, bonding over busy lines. While each ride got its moment, Space Mountain was Edmisten’s favorite by far.

“I kept re-riding it because it was so fast and thrilling. It sent shivers down my spine. I loved it,” Edmisten said.

Day two was spent exploring the world at Epcot. Tucker had a particular affinity for Epcot for its delicious food and exciting rides. She highly recommends the French food; according to Tucker, the pastries are something you can’t miss out on when visiting. Cosmic Rewind is another must-try. The ride is an immersive experience that allows you to save the world with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

“My favorite ride was definitely Cosmic Rewind. I love roller coasters, and it was so much fun just bonding with my friends in the lines. I’m not that big of a fan of Guardians of the Galaxy, but that just proves how good of a ride it is; you don’t need to be a fan to have a good time,” Tucker said.

The trip concluded with a stop at Hollywood Studios. Tinoco spent the day dropping it like it was hot on The Tower of Terror and exploring lands far, far away at Galaxy’s Edge. The rides were a favorite of his, but the most noteworthy experience came in a mystical program, characterized by vibrant washes of color and splashes of water.

“[My favorite part was] Fantasmic. It had all the characters and all the lights and water effects were super cool,” Tinoco said.

It’s safe to say the Disney trip was a success. Not only was the soundtrack studio a unique and beneficial opportunity, but also a fun and exciting experience. The roller coasters, food, and shows proved to be nothing short of phenomenal and provided band mates with quality bonding time.
