Sport Spotlight: Noah Morton

As the Lenoir City High School baseball season begins, it’s time for the players to lock in again. The athletes have been preparing for months, and they are eagerly stepping up to the plate for victories this spring. Noah Morton (10) has practiced diligently so far and is prepared to attack the 2026 Panthers baseball season. Morton has been playing baseball for several years, developing his skills and passion for the game over time. His experience has helped shape his understanding of the sport and his role on the team.

“I first got my passion for baseball whenever I was playing little league, and I got really into the sport,” Morton said.

From the beginning of his baseball career, he has faced challenges, achieved successes, and identified areas for improvement. As a sophomore, Morton continues to grow into his role on the team, contributing both on the field and in the dugout. His work ethic and consistency make him a dependable teammate throughout the season. With over thirty games in the season, players have to be extremely driven and highly motivated. For Morton, this motivation comes from showing up to baseball practices and putting in the extra effort to be successful in a game.

“[When under pressure], I remember what we have done in our practices,” Morton said.

Conditioning, muscle building, running drills, and repetition all pay off when the game gets close. During high-intensity innings when the crowd gets fired up, the skills and constant training kick in from muscle memory. With the intensity, Morton still needs to maintain a calm and confident demeanor going into a game.

“I enjoy playing fungo golf with my friends to prepare before the game,” Morton said.

Having a fun activity to be a part of before the game begins is the perfect way to relax and get ready to go into the game. Backing up the entertainment of fungo golf with discipline when needed will produce a higher number of victories for the LC Panthers this season.

A big goal for Morton heading into this season was to “beat Loudon.” And the team successfully met that goal and proudly walked out of the stadium victorious in the battle of the bridge. Setting high goals and standards for himself and his team, Morton continues to push himself to improve his individual performance throughout the season. He aims to build on his strengths and become a more consistent contributor for the Panthers.

“My teammates are my favorite part of playing baseball,” Morton said.

Morton maintains a close connection with his teammates, which makes the sport worth it. The tight friendship and team atmosphere that Morton and his teammates share help to enforce the purpose of playing a high school sport: for entertainment and personal joy. Morton is inspired to play his hardest during every baseball game to make his teammates proud and be a part of all the victories, losses, memories, and moments. Through consistent effort and a focused mindset, Morton is prepared to take on whatever challenges the season brings.
