With the school year quickly coming to an end, it’s time to prepare for the summer ahead! Lots of events occur during this time of the year. To farewell the 2022-2023 school year, LCHS is throwing a field day on May 5th!

To start off the eventful day, the school play will start first thing in the morning. You must have a ticket to watch the play, so make sure to purchase one! The play will have three different segments, with significant themes for each portion of the show.

One of the performers, Keira Everett (10) expresses her enthusiasm for the upcoming play.

“I’m definitely excited for us to perform because I feel as though we put a lot of effort into it, and I think this group has a lot of potential together,” Everett said.

After the school play, yearbooks will be distributed to students who have purchased them. The journalism team has also produced a video about this year’s yearbook that will be shown before the distribution in the auditorium.

The yearbook is a big deal for our school. Nathaniel Caldwell (11) shares his favorite part of receiving his yearbook.

“[I love to see] the compilation of a bunch of pictures taken throughout the year,” Caldwell said.

Once students have received their yearbooks and the school play has concluded, field day activities will begin! A variety of indoor and outdoor activities will be available for students to participate in.

These activities range from crafts, board/card games, and movies to tug-of-war, 3-legged-races, slip-and-slides, and much more!

Multiple food trucks will be set up in front of the gym on May 5th, as well. Make sure to have sunscreen, money if you’d like to make any purchases, and a change of clothes if you want to participate in any of the slip-and-slide activities!

With a variety of activities to choose from, it’s hard to pick just one you’d want to do most! Eliana Kent (9) shares what she’s looking forward to most on field day.

“[I’m looking forward to] tie-dying because it’s easy and outside,” Kent said.

To end the fun-filled day, this year’s senior sunset will be held on the school’s practice fields from 6:00-8:30 pm

Ultimately, the day will be packed with fun activities for you and your friends to enjoy before the school year officially comes to an end. Remember to purchase your school play tickets and pick up your yearbook! May 5, 2023 will be a day to remember!
