As Spring rolls around in LC, springtime sports begin as well! These include softball, baseball, tennis, track, and boys soccer. The spring athletes have been training throughout the winter in order to be fully prepared for the upcoming season ahead of them.

Spring also brings new opportunities, such as playing a sport for the first time. Kinley Abercrombie (9) speaks about her excitement for playing a brand-new sport this spring.

“I am super excited to play this year because I get to play with some of my best friends and I love how fun the team is,” Abercrombie said.

Although spring may be seen as a beginning for new things, Yeison Lopez (12) reminisces on his past years playing for the school. He has come to the realization that this will be his last season playing for Lenoir City.

“I will miss it because of all the memories I have made with my teammates from freshman year until now. Even though it is sad, I am excited to make my final memories with the team this year,” Lopez said.

Along with new seasons, new goals arise as well. Eden Frasure (10) becomes more excited by the day to improve her athleticism in track.

“I am excited to improve my PR and possibly get my times low enough to get a scholarship or some offers,” Frasure said.

Tennis, while not being the most popular sport among students, still remains a very fun and active spring activity to take part in. SaraJane Weber (12) goes into her senior season of tennis with a heavy heart.

“With everything else in my senior year coming to a close, realizing I won’t be on the tennis team anymore after this year is a crazy realization. I love playing the sport and it’s hard to imagine not doing it anymore,” Weber said.

Regardless of their status, newb or skilled, these springtime athletes are excited to begin their sports and improve along with it.
