Homecoming Info/Predictions

Homecoming is a main event that every high school student has to experience. This is our first major homecoming with over 150 people attending compared to last year’s 15 that showed up. This year homecoming queen nominees include Keanna Albright, Norah Alcon, Annie Alvo, Ashtin Brown, Kadence Carr, Kara Gresham, Aubree Jones, Alexandra McNabb, Maydin Perez, and Maleah Roberts. When we asked students who they thought would win, they shared their thoughts on who they believe has the best chance.

“Aubree Jones, because she is very involved,” Jasmine Kelley (9) said.

“Annie Alvo, she just has a kind personality to her,” Travis Wetzel (11) said.

HOCO proposals are one of the most creative and interesting things that contribute to the atmosphere of the Homecoming season. When you ask someone to HOCO, you don’t just want to go up to them and say “Hey. Me, you, HOCO?” No, you want a big, extravagant, creative way of someone asking you out. During the week of HOCO, boys often will make signs or creative little cool ways to ask out the girls to HOCO. Most of these signs have a little creative saying and the girls will either say yes or no to the little proposal.

HOCO is more than just a night of dancing and going to an event. This is a memory that they will hopefully remember for the rest of their lives. Events like HOCO and prom are only available for a limited time. You get four years, so if you don’t take advantage of all the great opportunities, you might regret it in the future.

“The culture of our school, [and] we get to spend time together as different class grades,” Kenton Motes (11) said.

“It really helps the school community come together,” Mark Lambdin (10) said.

Another exciting event during HOCO week is grade level sheet painting. Sheet painting is where for the whole week of HOCO, each grade gets a theme and they paint their sheet by their grade level theme. Then at the HOCO pep rally, the sheets are displayed and hung up in the football stands. This year, the Freshmen are rom-com, Sophomores are superheroes, Juniors are horror, and Seniors are western. This year’s HOCO dance is on October 18th 2025, at the Lenoir City Venue. Tickets will be sold until Friday, October 3rd 2025. Thanks to the student council for helping plan this dance and for helping to get this all together. Special big thanks to Mrs.Wallace for getting this thing and making it into what it is instead of being in the gym. She made it possible to be at the Lenoir City venue, and she has the passion and heart for this dance.
