Did “Hype House” Live Up To The Hype?
This January, Netflix aired a new show “Hype House”. The show includes all of your favorite Tik Tokers, Thomas Petrou, Lil Huddy, Nikita Dragun, Kouvr Annon, Jack Wright, Alex Warren, Vinnie Hacker, Mia Hayward, and Larray Merritt. The show was created to allow the cast to collaborate with each other to create new content. With ten famous 20 year old’s in a 5 million dollar house what could go wrong? I’ll just say tears were shed, and hearts were broken.
To start off the drama during episode one Lil Huddy was contemplating leaving the show. Huddy wanted to elaborate his career. In doing so, he left the house and successfully released his first album, Teenage Heartbreak. This launched his career, and he profited from it. While his followers showed him endless support the members of the hype house did not. Members of the house felt betrayed by Huddy after he left. Many claimed it was like losing a part of your family. Many other of my peers agree that Huddy was important member of the Hype House,
“He gave the house so much flavor”Katy Roel said.
The show showed the backstage scenes of being a social media star. Some good and some bad. Vinnie Hacker, for instance, who is only 18, claims he hates the spotlight. Hacker gets 13 millions flowers’ attention by creating and posting provocative videos. Hacker’s heart-throbbing fans cannot get enough of him – maybe too much. Hacker feels as if he can’t have a personal life because of what his fans will do. One incident in the show showed how a simple kissing prank went wrong. His followers didn’t like the prank and began to harass the girl Hacker kissed. In result, Hacker doesn’t feel like he should let anyone go through that. He has to give up his love life for his social media trends.
“I think Vinnie is secretly an introvert, which is probably why he left the house,” Sara Jane Weber says.
