On October, 31st, you can be anyone you want to be; Halloween is beloved by many because they can express themselves freely through dramatic costumes. Though faculty and students dressed up for the school day, one stood out: Gabriella Vasquez (10) won the school’s annual costume contest.
Vasquez was dressed as a bat, and while the concept may seem simple, her costume came out bold. She drew inspiration from alternative fashion and culture to make a unique costume that reflects her own sense of style.
“I’m just into alternative stuff, and I think bats are cute,” Vasquez said
Like many, Vasquez uses Halloween as an opportunity to express herself through extravagant style. On an average day, she dresses more casually.
“When I have time to put together an outfit I do, but most days I’m just kind of lazy,” Vasquez said.
Vasquez’s creativity shined through her costume, and we can expect more from her next year. Already brimming with inspiration, she has brainstormed some ideas for couples’ costumes.
“We’ve thought about Gumball and Darwin, Mavis and Johnny, and Kurt Cobain and his wife,” Vasquez said.
Vasquez’s costume was a unique reflection of her style, and we can expect more from her next year. Her bold creativity and eye for detail made her the clear winner.
