Senior talks about going into her final season of tennis and her overall experience on the team
It's Tennis Time in Tennessee!

As spring draws nearer and nearer, the tennis season is approaching as well! It has been a long winter and Lenoir City is ready to begin their tennis season. There are many returning players, but there are only two seniors on the team this season. Captain Sara Jane Weber is one of them and is ready to begin her last season.

Going into my last tennis season I feel excited, and a little sad. I’m not ready to move on from this team and playing tennis has become a big part of my life,” Weber said.

Tennis may only be played with two athletes, but Lenoir City makes sure to have a dynamic team. Weber has many things she wants to accomplish as a player this season. She also has set goals for the team as a whole.

“This year I hope to accomplish more as a team, I hope we will be able to work hard and get things done with the new coaching staff. I hope to accomplish more consistency with my hits and skill overall,” Weber said.

Tennis really has been a great experience for Weber throughout high school. Weber has learned a lot whether it be on or off the court these past three years.

“From tennis, I’ve learned that even if you’re playing alone, you still have a team to support you. I’ve learned what it means to push through and keep trying, as I’ve done myself and watched past teammates as well. It’s not a sport for everyone, but it’s great to see so many interested people, put work in to become better,” Weber said.

As Weber wraps up her tennis career, new players will be able to emerge after her. Lenoir City has a new coaching staff for the 2024 tennis season and the team is already starting practices. Students will have the opportunity to try out on Monday, February 26th. So if you’re an LCHS student reading, feel free to try out!
