152 years ago today, President Abraham Lincoln changed how we think about the Civil War. Lincoln changed the Civil War from a war to the restoration of  the union and to end slavery with his preliminary version of the Emancipation Proclamation. This document led to the freedom of almost three million black slaves in America.
