The summer heat is hard to beat, but the box offices were packed this summer with some great films and cool AC. Some of the most popular films of the summer were Fantastic 4: First Steps, Thunderbolts, and Superman. William Griffith (11) and Kenton Moats (11) saw these movies in the theater during their summer break.
Griffith saw Superman 4 times in total.
“This movie has been long awaited, and is the start of something new,” Griffith said.
Superman has made over 600 million dollars worldwide. The choice of actors in this film credit most of the success, fans have raved about Nicholas Hoult’s role as Lex Luthor, as well as David Corenswet’s leading role as Superman. This movie was a DC fan favorite, and is now available for digital download.
Griffith went with a few different groups of friends and family, but he kept coming back for more.
“The excitement and hype I had for this movie made me want to keep watching it again and again,” Griffith said.
Moats’s favorite movie of the summer was Thunderbolts.
“Thunderbolts has a really good mental health and depression message. It strikes on that message really well without spoon feeding it to the watcher. It hits really hard for me as someone who has dealt with that before,” Moats said.
Thunderbolts overall did really well in theaters, receiving an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and has made 382.4 million in the box office. This movie provides a high action twist, and is unique from some of the other Marvel movies out right now. Moats saw Fantastic 4: first steps and also Jurassic World Rebirth with his best friend. These movies were engaging, entertaining, and Moats would recommend that others go to see them before they are out of the theaters.
Lilo & Stitch also premiered over Memorial day weekend, grossing the highest for Summer 2025, with Superman following close behind. Lilo & Stitch was most successful, as many people know and love the classic disney animated film from 2002. This movie was similar in length to its original, and follows the same story. Overall rated as a great movie and a family friendly favorite.
Whichever movies appeal most to you, summer 2025 was a successful season for the movies, bringing in a little bit of everything to the theatres, so there’s something for the whole family. Pop your popcorn, grab your drinks, bring your friends and hurry and get your tickets before these hot movies leave the theatres.
