A Cinematic Harvest

With the cool breeze coming in and the summer activities being put back on the shelf, fall starts to unpack, readying for cold nights and warm fires. Along with these also come all sorts of movies including from horror to romance. There is at least one fall movie that suits everyone regardless of their favorite genre.

For Abby Holm(11), the creepy side of fall inspires her favorite movie “Coraline”. It reminds her of Halloween with all the unique bugs and the unsettling characters. With a love for all things creepy, she also loves the plot of the movie and the stop-motion animation in the movie. Along the plotline, the film slowly begins to get more chilling and mysterious which thrills Holm as she watches the movie unfold.

“I would have to say my favorite fall movie is Coraline because I’ve always loved the creepy Halloween vibes it gives off and I love the plot line,” Holm said.

Another Halloween movie that gives the chills is “Paranormal Activity: Next to Kin”. Ivan Tinoco(9) loves the thrill of horror as it gets closer to Halloween. He loves the way that the movie is laid out with the actors documenting the film and how it makes it more interesting to watch. Tinoco also loves how the plot intensifies slowly throughout the movie.

“My favorite is Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin because it was more like a documentary so you get to see the actors record it and it’s so interesting how the plot builds up,” Tinoco said.

Adding to the collection of spooky movies, Ashley Pineda Lopez’s(12) favorite movie is “Corpse Bride”, which is another stop-motion movie. Her love for the movie doesn’t just stop there because she also loves the meaning behind the movie. The film’s meaning and the music incorporated into it make it less creepy and more heartfelt for Pineda Lopez. The movie also brings out the romantic aspect of the cold season.

“My favorite is Corpse Bride because I like the theme of it and the idea that if you love someone you need to learn to let them go. The music in it is also really good,” Pineda Lopez said.

There are so many different types of fall movies for everyone whether it’s drama or if it’s mysterious. But now that there is a chill in the air it’s time to get your blankets and cuddle up on the couch watching your favorite fall movie.
