The People’s Choice Awards is included among the Espys, Grammys, and Emmys. Whether it be this year’s music, movies, or television, the PCAs have it covered on awards. The PCAs have such broad categories of awards and the people who tune in decide who wins the awards. The PCAs held their forty-ninth annual event recently and here is a recap on everything you might have missed.
Oppenheimer and Barbie took over the movie scene this year. Barbie took home Movie of the Year and Actors Margot Robbie, America Ferrera, and Ryan Gosling won awards for their work in the film. Oppenheimer won Best Drama Movie while being nominated in several other categories. Jennifer Lawrence and Jenna Ortega won PCAs for No Hard Feelings and Scream VI. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes was another big movie this year in which Rachel Zegler was named Action Movie of the Year. Zegler gave a heartfelt speech following her win.
“For so long in this business, I didn’t think I fit in. But tonight you have made me feel like I don’t have to change myself to be chosen and I appreciate you so much.” Zegler said. via. NBC
Streaming services have taken over the television realm these past few years. The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Kardashians, and Loki took home awards in their perspective categories. Recurring shows from this past decade like Grey’s Anatomy and The Voice won Best Show and Best Competition Show. The Last of Us was a smashing hit on MAX in which it won Best Drama Show and Pedro Pascal won Best Actor for his work on the show.

There have been so many artists this year that have risen to mainstream popularity. One of them was Jelly Roll who won Best Country Male Artist. Upcoming artist Olivia Rodrigo won Best Song and Album. Bad Bunny and Shakira took home Best Latin Artists. Also, your usual artists like Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and Nicki Minaj won awards in the categories they were nominated in. Ice Spice was another artist that skyrocketed this year and she won Best New Artist.
