Bigger and bigger
February 9, 2015

On Tuesday, September 9th, Apple announced the iPhone 6 and its big brother, iPhone 6 plus. The biggest change, pun intended, is its size. The iPhone 6 is taller, wider, and thinner than previous iPhones. The iPhone 6 is 6.9mm this and has a 4.7inch retina display with a resolution of 1344×750 with a pixel density of 326ppi. The iPhone 6 plus is 7.1mm thin and has a 5.5inch retina HD display with a resolution of 1920×1080 with a pixel density of 401ppi. The iPhone 6 and 6 plus have an improved isight camera as well as some new features. The 8mp camera has an f/2.2 aperture and new ‘focus pixels’ which allows ultra fast autofocus along with the ability to shoot 1080p video at 60fps, slow-mo at 240fps, and time lapse video. The iPhone 6 plus has optical image stabilization, however the iPhone 6 does not have optical image stabilization. The iPhone 6 and 6 plus also have the new Apple Pay, a secure form of mobile payment using the touch id sensor and nfc(Near Field Communication) that allows you to pay with your iPhone 6 or 6 plus in store. With 220,000 retailers already accepting it at launch in October, this may be the first successful mobile payment system. The iPhone 6 and 6 plus also have barometers, which enable you to track altitude along with distance walked in the health app. The health app will also work with the new apple watch when it is released next year. Under the hood, the iPhone 6 and 6 plus have the new a8 and m8 processors on a 64bit architecture making them the fastest iPhones to date. The iPhone 6 is said to have 10 hours of battery life while the iPhone 6 plus is said to have an impressive 12 hours. Aside from the hardware, the iPhone 6 will come with ios 8 on September 19th and is currently available for pre-order. The iPhone 6 comes in the same 3 colors as the 5s and starts at $199 for the 16gb model. The iPhone 6 plus starts at $299 for the 16gb model.
