38 years ago today NASA disclosed its first space shuttle, the Enterprise. Taking almost $10 billion and a decade to craft the Enterprise was the first space shuttle to fly freely when carried to 25,000 feet and dropped it glided smoothly to Edwards Air Force base. It’s first flight was on April 12, 1981 when it took off from Cape Canaveral on a two day mission.
