Childrens screams of joy are heard as they play through the newly open splash pad in downtown Lenoir City. The splash pad had a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 24, 2021 at 11 am, where they opened the new water attraction to the public and served free ice cream for everyone in attendance.

LCHS student Kylie Johnson,12, was excited to have places for her younger siblings to have fun.

“As soon as I heard about it opening I knew my siblings were going to want to go because it is something for them to do and have fun with” Johnson said.

Though excited about the opening, concerns were also in the back of Kylie Johnson’s head.

“With the opening comes the concern of covid because we were still in a global pandemic and a huge gathering of people makes it harder to stay far enough away from people” said Johnson.

The splash pad is now open and can be enjoyed from 10am-9:30pm every day.
