This year has been a rough ride for companies and people of all sorts. The same could be said for a Hollywood star, Kevin Spacey; he had been accused of sexual harassment. From an accusation from Anthony Rapp, (you may know him from Star Trek Discovery or Rent), this is his story. In 1989, Kevin Spacey and Anthony Rapp became acquainted because they were both working on Broadway shows. At the time, Anthony was only 14 years old, Rapp was invited to a party at Spacey’s apartment. When he got there, Rapp said he realized he was the only non-adult there. As a result, he got bored and wandered into a bedroom to watch TV. Then, well past midnight, Spacey came to the door and Rapp realized that everyone else had left the party. Then, Spacey sort of stood in the doorway kind of swaying.

Rapp remembers that Spacey was pressing into him but after some time he was able to get out from under Spacey and go into the bathroom, eventually leaving.

Ever since the issue, Rapp had never addressed it with Spacey and said that the rest of his life was difficult. Especially since soon after the incident, Spacey’s career began to take off and he saw him everywhere.

After the allegations came out, Spacey wrote, “I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp.. I honestly do not remember the encounter…I owe him the sincerest apology..I choose now to live as a gay man… and that starts with examining my own behavior.”

The gay community has been outraged at Kevin Spacey’s statement. I just want to say that being inebriated does not excuse certain actions.

All in all, it will be interesting to see what happens as the situation develops. In his career perspective, will people space themselves from Spacey and cause him downfall?
