On Saturday, November 7th, the Lenoir City High School swim team had their first meet was against Powell. The high school swim team lost to Powell with a score of 79-120. This is a good start to the season due to the fact there are only seven high school swimmers on the team.

Six swimmers on the high school team had qualified times for the city meet. These swimmers are Hunter Blue, Bailey Fritz, Seth Gates, Nathan Holliman, Abby Howell, and Rachel Scheffer. However, there were no times that qualified for the State Meet yet.

Seth Gates (11), one of the swimmers that qualified for the city meet, said he was very excited for this meet.

“I’m excited to see what new times I get for this season,” Seth said. “I’m hoping to make state again like I did last year,” said Gates. He has been on the team since he was in fifth grade until now, his junior year.

There are still nine more meets scheduled up until February, when the winter swimming season will end for the LCHS swim team. Five will take place at the Claire Donahue Aquatic Center, three will take place at UT, and one (the state meet) will take place in Nashville.
