The Field Is Yours

On September 21, the Lenoir City High School Marching Band went to its first competition of the season, The Clinch River Classic. Little known to many the marching band performs a different show every year and through hard work and dedication this year’s show entitled “Keeping Time” was born.

On the 21st a band competition was held at Clinton High School. Arriving at the school at 7:00 am the band got to work preparing for the competition later. They competed against other bands such as North West Winfield and Alcoa. They also got to view other bands in different classes like Farragut, Heritage, Karns, Hardin Valley, Oak Ridge, and Seymour.

While for some members this was their first competition for Katelyn Gonzalez (11) it was their seventh competition

“The trumpet section has become closer and has lots of musical growth,” Gonzalez said.

As the season continues, there are two Band Competitions that the Band plans to attend: The Foothills Classic and the Alcoa Marching Band Festival. The Band program continues to grow not only in musical ability but also in a bond of friendship.
