What's On Your Fall Playlist?

Summer is officially over and fall is here. Not only is summer leaving, but all of the top hits of the summer are going with it. The absence of summer songs makes room for the fall hits of this year. As you prepare for the fall season, be sure to add these tracks to your playlist.

“Scott Street” by Phoebe Bridgers: This song embodies nostalgia and introspection, perfectly fitting the fall vibe with its touching lyrics about past relationships and longing. The lyrics create a cozy, sorrowful atmosphere that resonates with the season’s themes of vulnerability and reflection.

“August” by Taylor Swift: It captures the feeling of a fleeting summer romance and blends nostalgia from the relationship. The song evokes the bittersweet essence of autumn, making it perfect for fall listening as it reflects on memories of love and longing, reminiscent of the changing seasons.

“We fell in love in October” by Girl in Red: This song gives more of an intimate vibe with heartfelt lyrics. The song plays with your feelings, giving you that sense of young love, nostalgia, and the warmth of connection, all put together with autumn visuals. The mix of fun and sweet feelings makes it a love song that feels both classic and perfect for the season.

“Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood: If you are more into indie pop music, this song will be perfect for you. It explores themes of love, longing, and the comfort of being close to someone, making it perfect for cozy moments during chilly weather. This is the best song for fall because it embraces the feeling of fall.

“Linger” by The Cranberries: This song is perfect for the season because, when you listen, you can’t help but reflect on past relationships and the fleeting moments of summer. It has such a warm, nostalgic vibe and goes beautifully with the cozy atmosphere of autumn, which is a perfect song for when the leaves start changing.

Even a few students share their favorite songs and explain how they switch from their summer playlist to their fall playlist.

Rozelyn Loveall(12) explains how she prepares for the fall change.

“My favorite fall song would have to be ‘Halloween’ by Phoebe Bridgers or ‘Kiss Me’ by Sixpence None the Richer. I would say that I transition from my summer playlist to my fall playlist by just getting into a good mindset for, like, the holidays and just making everything cute for fall,” Loveall said.

While some students like to do fall activities when the weather gets cooler, Addie Johnson(12) prefers to stay inside for fall and listen to music.

“I love to transfer into my fall playlist as quickly as possible; my favorite thing to do is to listen to music in my room and really get into the fall spirit. My favorite fall song would definitely be ‘We Fell in Love in October’ by Girl in Red. It is one of the best songs to really get me in the mood for the season,” Johnson said.

Ellie Nelson(12) expresses how she differs between the two playlists,

“I begin to switch between my playlists by finding those in-between songs. I like the songs that fit both seasons, and I just listen to those for a bit, then completely switch over to my fall music,” Nelson said.

So, whether you’re enjoying a bonfire with friends, studying for exams, or just relaxing at home, these hits from popular artists are the perfect soundtrack for a vibrant autumn. So grab your headphones, turn up the volume, and let the music fill your world with the spirit of fall!
