As the school year begins, seniors have geared up for the anticipated tradition, Senior Assassin. This is a game of strategy, where participating students use water guns to “eliminate” their opponents. With the game underway, here is a general reprise of the rules. Each of the volunteering seniors are given a target. After one eliminates the other, the eliminated gives their target to who eliminated them to continue the game. All weapons are limited to water guns, and certain areas are off-limits. Such as, inside establishments, during school/religious events, and school sports fields. Eliminations are allowed if outside of the target’s home (unless invited in), before and after events, before and after clock-ins to work, and in the school’s parking lot. Another way to keep safe is by wearing swimming goggles on the player’s head, discluding if on any other limb.
To be considered a participant, you need to be a senior, contact one of the game’s hosts, and have pitched in 5 dollars. All money handed in by participants goes into a prize pot where the winner of the game receives all cash rewards.
Hosts of the game Davis Boals (12) and Kyra Grason (12) feel confident about the game they started up. The game plans to continue and it grows more nerve-wracking as it does so. Each player is under regulation to out-wit their participating peers while they follow the rules.
“I think people are a lot more on edge. They’re looking out, keeping their head on a swivel. They don’t want to get shot,” Boals said.
After considering the rules, the players have found ways to make their shots with creativity and clever thinking. The two hosts agreed on who has the “coolest kill” so far.
“So far, it was probably Mercy Catota. She told River that she needed to take a picture of him for the yearbook and he took his goggles off, and then she shot him.” Boals said.
Despite the worries revolving around the game, the two hosts feel that this experience could add fun to a participant’s senior year.
“I feel as though this game would advance someone’s senior year; it makes things fun and allows students to connect with their peers,” Grason said.
Senior Assassin brings excitement to its players and to those who watch the game on the Instagram page, @lchsseniorassassin25 . As the hosts write to the players: “May the odds be ever in your favor.”
