September 16, 1940
74 years ago today, Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Selective Service and Training Act, putting a military draft into action. All men ages 26 to 35 were required to sign up for the draft. Roosevelt considered it important to train American men to defend our country if the need ever presented itself.
