Tanning
Trying to get that perfect dark tan for summer can be hard, especially for people who are typically busy and don’t have much free time. Even with these circumstances using a tanning bed should never be an option for anyone!
Tanning Beds expose skin to massive amounts of ultraviolet (UV) rays, the cause of most skin cancer. UV rays, whether they come from indoor tanning or the sun, can also cause wrinkles, rashes, and dark spots. tanning is super dangerous for anyone under 20, According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people who begin tanning during adolescence or early adulthood have a higher risk of melanoma, the deadliest type of skin cancer. This is very contradicting since indoor tanning is enormusly popular for teenages and young adults. A big reason why we do this is because we believe it makes us look more attractive and healthy with a tan.
Many people have been persuaded to believe that indoor tanning is safer than tanning in the sun. The truth is UV rays damage wherever they come from, but if you’re out in the sun you will more than likely wear sunscreen which will lessen the affect the UV rays have on your skin cells. In some cases an “over dose” of UV rays can actually alter the DNA of your skin cells, which according to experts this is what causes most skin cancers. Weaker UV rays, though less likely to cause cancer, are linked to long-term skin damage, including wrinkles and changes in texture.
In many states the Government is taking steps to outlaw the use of tanning beds for anyone under 18 to prevent future damage. So if you must tan just remember to always always wear sunscreen to protect your future health.
