Giving Season

With the giving season just around the corner, many people begin to donate more generously. Currently, there is an abundance of different charitable causes aimed at keeping the holiday spirit alive for those less fortunate. Many of these charities are run by people in the community and aimed to affect people locally. Some of these charitable events are even held at our own high school.  With Santa’s Helper and NHS’s events, many students at LC are committed to important causes.

A new drive is now coming to LCHS with the addition of the new Chick-Fil-A endorsed Leader Academy. The CFA Leader Academy’s coat drive is aimed to supplement the Santa’s Helper program, hosted by the Lenoir City School system.

Santa’s Helper is a local drive which benefits children in our community by providing a variety of necessities such as scarves, coats, socks, and other basic clothing items. Although the main focus of this drive is to collect coats, other items are collected as well such as socks and gloves. They request that the items donated are new or gently used to ensure the durability of given items. Much of the campaign is aimed at the elementary and middle school, so smaller sizes are recommended over larger ones. Donations are being collected at various point in LCHS, including the library and main office.
With many students in the Lenoir City School system falling below the poverty line, these drives are very important in ensuring that some needs of students are met as the temperature begins to drop. These actions of compassion are the sincerest gestures of compassion during this season. The items will be collected until December 14th, before being distributed to the LC Elementary and Middle Schools.
