Homecoming Spotlight: Aubree Jones

Homecoming Spotlight: Aubree Jones

Homecoming season is exciting for the entire school, but especially for the ladies selected to represent the student body on the Homecoming Court. Aubree Jones (12) is one of the honorable girls selected by her peers to be a part of this wonderful experience.

Jones has been extremely involved in a variety of activities throughout her high school career, including her positions as Student Body President, NHS President, Interact Club President, and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook. Additionally, she participates in and runs the media account for Singers, presents her leadership skills in clubs such as FCA, Panther Crew, Mu Alpha Theta, and Student Health Advisory Council, and represents the school on the Varsity Golf team. Jones hopes to have made a lasting impact on the people she has gotten to know over the last four years.

“I hope that when people think of me, they think of kindness or a positive impact. I hope to have been a good listener for some people and somebody who’s helpful and reliable. I hope to have encouraged people and honestly just try to do little things that make a larger impact overall,” Jones said.

Jones’s love for connecting with people has influenced her to pursue a major in Journalism or Pre-law studies, and then continue her education in law school. She plans to attend an SEC school, such as the University of Tennessee Knoxville, but is keeping her mind open to whatever plans God has for her future. While Jones is excited about college and new chapters ahead, she values the daily opportunities Lenoir City has given her.

“I have learned how much the day-to-day means. A lot of the time, we get caught up in ourselves and looking forward to… big events like prom and homecoming, fall break and things like that, and we just get too caught up to appreciate we are where we are now and we just need to take a moment to do the little things that impact each day and make each day unique and special. [A quote I live by is] Tom Petty’s song ‘Mary Jane’s Last Dance,’ the lyric that says “Never slow down, never grow old” because I think constant motion is something I find myself in a lot, so I try to sort of center myself and remind myself that I’m really blessed to have the opportunities I do,” Jones said.

Jones is taking this senior season to truly appreciate the opportunities around her, and homecoming is the perfect opportunity to do just that. Her excitement for the event is growing, and she is planning ahead for the fun opportunities.

“I am going to try to get a pink dress, hopefully something with some ruffles or some dimension to it. I’m not entirely sure because I do not have it yet. I’m excited to have fun and be involved with the student body and with the other senior girls who were selected, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to attend events for the school and community,” Jones said.

Being nominated for the Homecoming Court is an incredible honor. Aubree Jones’s uplifting spirit and dedication to serving others have helped her stand out amongst her senior class. Her welcoming heart, strong-willed personality, and courageous attitude have made her extremely deserving of this opportunity.
