A night that had everyone on the edge of their seats, whether on the sideline or in the stands, and giving an unforgettable victory for our volleyball team against Loudon High School. But it was also a sentimental night, it was senior night for our Lady Panthers. Annie Alvo (12) describes her experience playing Lady Panthers volleyball over the years.
“I don’t have a specific memory but I do have to say that over time just creating new memories and having conversations about years ago to now and just seeing how much time has changed us, but yet our relationship has grown just as much,” Alvo said.
Alvo’s team means a lot to her, through how she’s built relationships through her time on the team. Along with team dynamics nothing can stop her and the team from rising to victory.
“After an amazing win the team is definitely more bonded and together, in terms of us being hype, being excited, and just enjoying each other’s company because we fought so hard to make that win so that when we do win it’s a great celebration,” Alvo said.
Teamwork is important within volleyball, but everyone has their own task to perform. Alvo’s mindset shows her will and determination to perform well for her team.
“My mindset throughout the game is definitely to just do my job to my best capability and no matter what I’m going to sacrifice my body or do whatever it takes to keep that ball in the air,” Alvo said.
It is important to Alvo to stay strong for her team. In previous years Alvo’s work and dedication has shown through her action on the court. These memories are what brought Alvo to the player she is today and in her high school career.
“The most memorable moment for me while being on the court was definitely the West volleyball game. I played that game my junior year and after the last set was played I was recruited to go to West High School, which is great because they are number one in the district so that was very exciting for me and very eye opening about my opportunities,” Alvo said.
Alvo’s dedication brought her to the player she is today. It has shown her the true potential she brings to her team. Overall, she couldn’t have done it without the support and love of her teammates.
“I love that I can be myself, and I know no matter what I have a supportive group of teammates,” Alvo said.
Although this is Alvo’s last year on this high school’s court, she will not be forgotten. Through the love and support she’s shown to her team, they know she will always be there for them. She has shaped her underclassmen teammates’ lives and mindsets on the court. From previous years, her love of volleyball has shown through her work and dedication for her team. An amazing end to her high school career that was filled with love and support for volleyball.
