As the boys nominated for the Annual Basketball 2025 Homecoming Court prepare to walk out with their date on their arm and to see who will be crowned, the boys spend their time reflecting on the last 4 years of their lives. With their excitement building, Evan Brown (12), expresses his gratitude for being nominated, realizing how much this moment means as his senior year comes to an end.
“It felt good that I got nominated for court. To be able to take part in something like this is not common to get on, so I’m not only happy but surprised,” Brown said.
Brown plans to attend The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, majoring in exercise science. But for now, he will reminisce about his time on the Lenoir City Football team and his involvement in FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), Younglife, and a part of the football team. Brown expresses the biggest challenges he and others had to face during their time playing football.
“My biggest challenge I’ve overcome was probably the coaching issue in football. All 4 years, we’ve had a new coach and it was very hard for us. But, since most of the seniors have been playing together since Little League, we were able to still have winning seasons and still have fun while doing it because of the team chemistry we had together,” Brown said.
Having a support system during something like that is good to have. Brown’s support system is his Dad as he has shown up to all of his games and helped Brown become the person he is today. Despite the challenges, football was still Brown’s favorite part of high school.
“My favorite part about high school was being able to experience Friday night lights. It’s an experience you’ll only get to have in high school,” Brown said.
When it comes to balancing school with extracurricular activities, Brown offers some advice to any incoming freshmen.
“Balancing school work and sports wasn’t too hard. Just get your work done in class do it on time, and stay on top of your classes. Just do not give up. The work you do now will reward you later,” Brown said.
Evan Brown’s unwavering dedication to football and his team despite the challenges is a testament to what it means to be a leader. His hard work and determination make him a proud nominee for the 2025 Homecoming Court.
