New Year New Dreams

Throughout each year many things evolve and change, including music, trends, and most importantly people. People can develop new skills, jobs, friends, and emotions. Yes, although all of those developments are significant nothing is more valuable than a person’s dream. Dreams affect the mindset and work habits of humankind. One singular dream can make a difference between motivation and apathy. Varsity winter guard captain, Jayla Walters not only has dreams to achieve this year but she also is determined to make them come true.

“I really want to work on being a better Captain for my team,” Walters said.

Walters has already taken the opportunity to be a better captain this year. As Walters leads the winter guard team during practices, she helps her teammates catch their tosses and feel more confident when performing.

“I have three other captains that I coach with and they’re all working hard to keep everybody on track because we are under the division of international and so if we move up this year that means we get to go to Nationals.” Walters said.

The effort and work ethic the team possesses are truly motivating. It would be a huge accomplishment for the Winter Guard to make nationals and push themselves further as a whole.

“Everyone’s really hitting it off and I think that connection between everyone in the group is really important so we can all uplift each other and there’s no drama to distract us from doing our best we’re all working together and not against each other.” Walters said.

Walters’s new year resolution will not just have an impact on her, but it will also impact her winter guard family. Leading a team effectively will have a productive and successful future for any challenges and battles faced.
