Senior year is a time to soak up every opportunity, and if there is an event at Lenoir City, chances are Davis Boals (12) is a part of it! Boals is making the most out of his last year of high school by being involved in a plethora of activities. He is athletically involved on the basketball team and golf team, spending countless hours training with his teammates. He is also involved with NHS, FCA, and Singers which allows him to connect with people and lead those around him. On top of it all, he recently joined musical theater. Although his schedule might be busy, being involved with lots of things in the school is extremely important to Boals.
“High school is a short time, so making the most out of your four years is important to me. I think that being so involved has allowed me to experience so much, to be a part of a lot of different things and meet a lot of different people who I probably wouldn’t have talked to otherwise, so it’s been really cool,” Boals said.
The variety of clubs, teams, and opportunities that Boals has gotten to be a part of over his high school years have given him the chance to connect with lots of different people and experience lots of different things. It may be a lot to juggle, but he has learned that being involved in all of it is worth it in the end.
“I’m not very organized, but as long as I have someone telling me I need to be here at this time, then I’m usually there at that time. I’d say [time managing is] just kind of making it work really. Being where I need to be, and then sometimes having to cut things short, but that way I can be involved in everything at once,” Boals said.
In addition to his previous high school activities, this year Boals decided he wanted to get out of his comfort zone and try something new, so he joined musical theater.
“I joined musical theater because I really liked watching Annie last year and I had some friends in there that were kind of pressuring me to be in that class, but I’ve enjoyed it so far. It’s been a lot of fun. I’m really liking the class so far this semester,” Boals said.
Boals has always been a part of choir classes such as Man Kwar and Singers, but after watching last year’s musical theater production and seeing how fun the opportunity looked, Boals decided to try it out for himself. He is looking forward to continuing in the class, and to working towards the performance of this year’s musical, Bye Bye Birdie.
“I hope that we can, just everybody be all-in and that we can put on a good production this year,” Boals said.
Although Boals has been a part of many activities throughout high school, he did not let his busy schedule stop him from trying something new at Lenoir City. From his performance on the court to his performance on stage, Boals is making the most out of his senior year.
