The Starbucks franchise takes the world by storm every fall with their seasonal drinks, but local places have caught onto the trends too. A local coffee shop, Ugly Mug, has an impressive collection of drinks this year that perfectly encapsulate fall’s essence. Kadence Carr (11), a former employee, was able to put her own unique twist on these drinks to have them better fit her taste.
“I actually had my own drink for a while. It was a salted caramel pumpkin chai with cinnamon and then cinnamon cold foam with pumpkin spice on top and it was so good,” Carr said.
Even though the customizations were specific to Carr’s taste, many other people were fond of the drink. She shared that this was her favorite drink to make for herself and others during her time with Ugly Mug, but not all drinks were as enjoyable to make.
“I really don’t like making any of the drinks where I have to fire roast the marshmallows, but I really do like making pumpkin spice lattes because it always smells so good especially the hot ones,” Carr said.
Although the aroma of hot drinks is enjoyable, Carr expresses the lack of diversity in the menu is disappointing. If given the chance, she would expand the menu to include those who don’t enjoy hot coffee as much.
“I would add more iced fall drinks because most of them are hot and I’m someone who doesn’t like drinking hot coffee, and I know a lot of people feel the same,” Carr said.
Even with its limited options, the menu perfectly complements the pleasant and vibrant autumn atmosphere. As Carr proved, there are so many flavors to blend together, so waste no time and stop by before fall is over!
