Student Spotlight: Blakelee Hodnett

Some people are bright rays of sunshine. The type of person to make a person’s day better with a simple “Hello” or smile while walking across the hallway. For the freshman class at Lenoir City High School, this student is Blakelee Hodnett (9). Hodnett is an outstanding student with a GPA of 4.0, a list of leadership positions, and a wonderful friend and teammate.

“ [High School] has definitely been a lot different than middle school. I was not expecting as much homework but now I spend at least 2 hours a day doing homework. So it’s been a lot different, especially with sports during the first semester but I’ve been figuring it out. My schedule is great and everybody has been a lot nicer than I’ve expected,” Hodnett said.

Hodnett balances her academics along with the social aspects of high school. Inside and outside of school, she continues to strive for success and to be the best version of herself possible.

“So I go to Young Life. I am the student council advisor. I’m in student council. I’m on the volleyball team. I think that’s it!” Hodnett said.

As a freshman Hodnett has already made a name for herself at the school. As she takes the role of a student council leader she demonstrates integrity, companionship, and reliability. Hodnett is a part of the Lenoir City High School Volleyball team. As a freshman, she made the varsity volleyball team. This position is fast-paced and has a learning curve for all grades, let alone a freshman. As the youngest on the team, she is competitive and aims for achievement. Not only has Hodnett made an impact on herself, but she has also made an impact on others.

“I already feel like I know a lot more people and have a lot more connections than I did at the beginning which is very helpful going into the rest of my years of high school. So that’s been good and I like having that leadership role so being in the student council and student council advisor has been really good,” Hodnett said.

Hodnett’s experience with high school has been positive and a big transition from middle school. She is handling the change and diversity between the two with a smile on her face and a heart to share with the world.
