Here in east Tennessee, you’ll never be bored during the spring! With warm weather comes a plethora of activities and events; especially in Franklin, Tennessee. Each year, Lucky Ladd Farms, located in the heart of Middle Tennessee, near Nashville, Franklin, and Murfreesboro, holds their annual Tennessee Tulip Festival.
Lucky Ladd Farms, created and founded by the Ladd family, first established in 2009. The family friendly attraction offers a variety of activities such as strawberry picking, pumpkin picking, and of course, tulip picking. Over the years, the Tennessee Tulip Festival has become more and more of a hit amongst tennesseans.
This year, Farmer Ladd and his devoted team planted more than 700,000 tulip bulbs, displaying over 100 different types of tulips. With the Tennessee Tulip Festival being the largest pick-your-own tulip farm in Tennessee and even the entire Southeastern United States (via Lucky Ladd Farms), a lot of work must be done in order to prepare for the sea of people who participate in the festival.
Not only is the Tennessee Tulip Festival a great way to get outside and enjoy the spring weather, but it is also a phenomenal photo opportunity for photographers, influencers, or anyone who loves to capture the beauty of nature. Offering an array of beautiful tulips in all sorts of shades and colors, you won’t want to miss out on the amazing views the Lucky Ladds Family provides.
Unfortunately, tulip season is rather short, with bloom periods typically only lasting 3-4 weeks. Although the blooming season comes to an end, the fun at Lucky Ladd Farms doesn’t! The ‘tulip picking’ portion of the Tennessee Tulip Festival lasts from March 16 – April 7, but the farm also offers ‘Tulip Dig Days’ from April 10 – April 21. These tulip Dig Days consist of allowing visitors to purchase passes allowing them to dig up as many tulip bulbs as desired to take home. Although “dig” is in the title, the only digging allowed is with your hands as the farm permits any and all gardening equipment.
With the weather warming up, more and more outdoor opportunities start to flourish along with the beautiful fauna and flora scattered throughout the state. The Lucky Ladd Farms annual Tennessee Tulip Festival is an experience that you will never forget and most definitely don’t want to miss out on whether it be hand picking an arrangement of tulips or harvesting bulbs to plant in your own garden.
