As we reach the most festive part of the year, many students at Lenoir City High School have unique experiences and festivities they participate in around Christmas time. Christmas is the time of the year to spend with loved ones, spread cheer, and of course, make memories each year. Senior Ellie Orr shares some festivities she participates in during the holidays.
“We are going to the Grove Park Inn in Asheville to look at the gingerbread houses displayed there,” Orr said.
Orr and her family have been practicing this tradition for quite some time.
“We have been doing this for a couple of years now, and it never gets old,” Orr said.
Orr elaborates on what she does with her time in Asheville.
“We usually walk around the city and look at the Gingerbread houses that are displayed around the hotel. Grove Park Inn hosts a gingerbread house competition which is the main reason we go each year,” Orr said.
With many spirited activities to take part in Asheville, one venture stands out to Orr.
“My favorite part would probably be the sightseeing. The hotel is near the city and it is fun to walk around and see the decorations,” Orr said.
As years go on, Orr still plans on continuing this festivity with her family.
“We plan on continuing with this trip every year. It is a good way to spend the Holidays so I hope I can continue to go,” Orr said.
Christmas wraps up the year and allows everyone to have a break while surrounding themselves with people they love. For many, Christmas would not be the same without participating in festivities that mean the most to them. For Orr, she cherishes the time she gets to spend every year with her family in Asheville. Have a very merry Christmas LCHS!
