As the semester comes to an end, Lenoir City High School wraps up and concludes a great first semester of the 2023-2024 school year. Before the semester officially came to an end, LCHS’s journalism program took a look back on some great memories and highlights of the semester.
The Panthers have had a great season in football: having a close game with our rival Loudon, and pulling many wins away and at home. These victories led to the team going to the playoffs. Along with football, the girl’s soccer team also had a tremendous season and won their district.
Battle of the Bridge had a huge impact on the student body this year and many people donated money to Good Samaritan and helped LCHS win the Battle of the Bridge food drive. Additionally, the student section also won ‘student section of the week’ against Loudon.
Aside from sports here at LCHS, we have had memorable pep rallies and eventful nights. The fall homecoming was successful and allowed participation in spirit week and dress-up days. From fun games at pep rallies to winning the homecoming game, the Panthers can easily say it was a successful homecoming week.
Going into October, NHS and Panther Crew created and managed a haunted house to raise money for both clubs. The haunted house was located in downtown Lenoir City and many students and families came out to show their support. Both NHS and Panther crew worked hard to put on the best Halloween festivity in the city.
With the football season coming to an end, we transitioned to basketball season. Each game has had a great atmosphere within the student body and the basketball team. Throughout the season, the Panthers continue to cheer on both the girls and boys at every game.
Heading into December, the senior class had a senior trip to Dollywood for the day. Many seniors went and enjoyed themselves with their friends, and for some, this was their last field trip together due to some students graduating at the end of this semester.
These next couple of weeks are filled with EOCs and finals before we head out for Christmas break. Every day, students are working hard to study and prepare for their end-of-course exams. If you are passing your classes, your last day of school is December 14th.
As this semester comes to a close, reflecting on the past few months allows us to see what a great and eventful semester we have had. LCHS wishes both students and families a very wonderful Christmas break and New Year. And like always, go Panthers!
