Every Friday during lunch, food trucks arrive at the school. This all started last winter in an attempt to raise money for the end-of-the-year field day. The food trucks normally consist of snow cones, but recently the selection expanded to ice cream as well. The food trucks are available for staff and students. Every Friday the trucks help lift students’ spirits. Many of the students love the local desserts, just like Ethan Norman (11) and Anna Johnson (11) who love the frozen treats.

For many, the school week can be draining. Having something to look forward to to end the tiring week can help a lot with motivation. For Johnson, food truck Fridays are always a great way to end her week.

“I enjoy the food trucks coming [on] Friday[s] because it feels like a reward for the end of the week,” Johnson said.

As we all know, the month of August is pretty warm here in East Tennessee. Having a frozen treat is a great way to cool down and beat the heat. When food truck Fridays come around, Norman loves to get an icy desert.

“I like Kona Ice because it is nice to have a refreshment… and because of all the flavors, it is usually cheaper, it helps with the heat, and it always makes my day better,” Norman said.

Although the weather has been on the warmer side, not everyone is a fan of cold treats to satisfy their sweet tooth. Kona Ice is a great way to reward yourself for working hard through the school week, but having some variety is always nice. Johnson shares her opinion on the matter.

“I feel like we should have some more [food truck] options for Friday[s] because some kids can get bored of having Kona Ice every Friday. It would be nice to have different options,” Johnson said.

Fridays are also football game days, so the food trucks help bring the students some extra school spirit. Not every school gets the privilege of food truck treats, so Norman appreciates the gesture.

“[Having the food trucks] makes me feel like Fridays are important…I like [that] the food trucks only [come] on Friday[s] because if the food trucks came more often, I would not buy it,” Norman said.

Making the best out of our high school careers is a goal that many students strive for. Having a fun way to end the week definitely helps us to loosen up and enjoy our time. Johnson shows her gratitude towards the prerogative.

“I’m not surprised [that the school now has food truck Fridays] because they[‘re] always try[ing] to get the [us students] to enjoy the work that [we] have completed…they like to reward us to show that they appreciate our behavior, hard work, and dedication,” Johnson said.

Luckily, the food trucks will continue to come every Friday for all of us students and staff to enjoy until further notice!
