On Thursday December 4th, the high school held its winter play for the 2014-2015 school year. This year, the play was A Christmas Carol. The play featured Colton Toney (12) as Ebenezer Scrooge, Grace Hassler (11) as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Ryan Taylor (12) as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Skylar Ingram (10) as the Ghost of Christmas Future, and the student direct of the play was Jenna Dirksen (11).
They play was in the works for about three months. The process of putting the play together was a bit of a challenge. The set building was one of the more difficult parts because of all of the transitions from scene to scene. The makeup was also difficult for some of the characters (all of the ghosts and the old men). The make that they had put on them was very detailed and heavy so the audience could tell what they were.
For the plays, the theater always has a student director. This year it was Jenna Dirksen. “I thought Jenna went hard as always. She took her position seriously, but didn’t overstep anybody,” said Angel Winkelpleck (12). Dirksen stayed calm through the whole process.
The whole cast and crew worked hard on the play. The costume department worked as they could to get everybody a costume that fit the time period, and, for the most part, they did that. The props were also well used with the sets and the time period. Everybody in all of the crews helped out with the other crews. The whole class pitched in and helped make the play run as smoothly as possible.
Everybody worked hard to make the production possible. The end result was better that expected. The whole cast and crew was pleased with the whole production.
